About Us

The Pinoy Farmers’ Internet is Philippine’s first internet-based extension support system to help modernize Philippine Agriculture. This site is managed by the Open Academy for Philippine Agriculture (OPAPA), a multi-agency partnership involving PhilRice, DA, DOST, IRRI, ICRISAT, USM, PAC, CLSU, ISU, UPOU, PCARRD, ASTI, DA-ITCAF, BPRE, PCC, DA-BAR, PhilScat. It started operations in 2003 and in 2004, it successfully bagged a funding from the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) to implement a 3 year project called the K-AGRINET - or Knowledge Networking for Enterprising Agricultural Communities. This umbrella project include three other ICT based initiatives in agriculture - the e-Farm and e-Consortia projects of PCARRD, and the e-Agrikultura project of the DAR. The Development Academy of the Philippins (DAP) was elected PMO.
